ALANA BLACKBURN
Face to Face teaching
Alana is a Senior Lecturer at the University of New England (Armidale) where she specialises in performance, ensemble leadership and studio pedagogy. She is currently based in Armidale NSW and is available for lessons and master classes (locally and abroad).
Alana has been invited to tutor at workshops for the Sydney Society of Recorder Players, Canberra Recorder and Early Music Society, North Queensland Recorder Society, and Orpheus Music Boutiques. And has given master classes at the New England Conservatorium and Royal Academy of Music (London), in addition to providing private lessons to tertiary recorder students.
Online Tuition
Alana has been providing private online tuition since 2014 with students from Singapore, Hong Kong, USA, Tasmania and Queensland. Through online lessons she has had students complete high level exams and prepare for auditions.
Since 2015, she has been teaching tertiary music via online platforms, conducting research into online music education and designing higher education courses in applied music study. She has been invited by the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Association (TEQSA) to be an expert in online education, and received a teaching award for Excellence in Teaching from the School of Arts, University of New England.
